Lucali's Pizza, Brooklyn's Famous..

We called ahead to get in this "lines down the block" pizza haven. The wait wasn't bad at all. It's BYOB so we got 2 bottles of Chianti to help us along. The place is small, nothing fancy, yet inviting. It must be the smell of the pizza baking. No menu, no credit cards, no salad.. Just pizza or calzone, and toppings if you want. $24 a pie. WORTH IT! The crust was cooked perfectly and had the right texture, crispy on the bottom. The sauce was perfection, as was the cheese, not too salty, not too bland; just a perfect blend. The basil was a bit much, but who cares? toss it off and get down to this fantastic creation of pizza.
The address is:   575 Henry Street  Brooklyn, NY 11231

Lucali's Pizza, Brooklyn's Famous.. Top in NY for sure

Close up of the silky smooth melty ricotta cheese oozing out of this baked dessert calzone. Notice the little sea salt to the right. And the powdered sugar is a must.
The dessert calzone stuffed with ricotta cheese and chocolate, and a  pinch of sea salt.. Yep, sea salt.. And that makes  it completely delish
The slice. Remove the basil if you like. Me? me likey..

Lucali's Pizza, voted #1 in NYC.

Angelina's Ristorante, Tottenville

Another delicious meal at Angelina's.. We started off with the special appetizer, Whipped Bufala Ricotta, "Italian" Guacamole, toasted sliced nuts on thinly sliced toasted italian bread. WOW! The smooth ricotta together with the avocado was a blend of subtle yet powerful flavors accompanied by the slightly nutty accent all together on the light and crunchy bread. This was so great that we had to order another. Chef Marco is amazing. the pappardelle special was magnificent. It was large smotherings of pappardelle surrounded by fresh mushrooms, perfectly seared shrimp, cherry tomatoes in a light brown sauce, and mascarpone cheese, which took this dish to the top and beyond. I have to add that the service here is just impeccable, unlike any other restaurant I have been to. The waiter noticed I was wearing black pants and immediately brought over a black napkin, not to get white lint on my pants.. TOTALLY AMAZING.

Vinegar Hill House, DUMBO

One of the greatest meals I have ever experienced was in this small, sort of cottagey place in a very quiet hidden area of Brooklyn, called Vinegar Hill House. The venue was so cozy and warm. At first I thought the menu would be a challenge, but after having to pick something from the very limited menu, I explored outside the box... Yay for me. It was tantalizing. Radish salad? I don't like radishes. This was exceptionally delicious. How can a radish be that good? It was. Main dish was bucatini (can't go wrong with pasta) with chorizo ragu & seared octopus. I wanted to lick the damn dish. What a melody of flavors all joined together to create a freakin symphony in mi boca.. We shared 2 desserts, one was Apple Pecan Bread pudding, which was excellent , was topped off with cinnamon ice cream. The other dessert was a salted caramel custard with melt in your mouth shortbread cookies. I could eat that every other day. The bucatini? every single day, along with the radish salad.. Well, at least for a week straight..
