Palm Sunday Dinner.. ah, home cooked meal

Dinner at our friends' home. Is that what you call it when the food never stops flowing; dinner?

Whatever the proper term, it was great. Delicious Queen Ann, yep, not Pastosa this time, ravioli with a meat sauce. Although I love Pastosa Ravs, Queen Ann is right up there,
Round Ravioli, a must
Pork Roast on the bone
If you didn't want ravioli, there was also penne with meat sauce. I had both, just to make sure I tasted everything. And then the real procession began. Broccoli oreganata, string beans with garlic & oil, stuffed mushrooms, stuffed artichokes, candied sweet potatoes with marshmallows browned to perfection, baked sweet potatoes for the dieters, salad with walnuts, craisins, feta cheese and my special homemade dressing consisting of Balsamic vinegar, olive oil, dijon mustard, squeeze of lemon juice. Then s & p, a dash of oregano, parsley, basil, minced garlic, onion powder and I whip it with my mini whisk until it becomes sort of thick. It was a hit. Delicious.
Then there was a  Pork Roast on the bone, served with a gravy made from its own juices. It was tender, moist and flavorful cause the roast was covered in herbs like rosemary, basil & fresh parsley and garlic while cooking. Then the desserts.. No wonder I am still full at 8:00 a.m.
You had to add your own sauce here, the kids don't like too much.
Chicken cutlets for those who don't enjoy the Pork.

Mashed sweets covered with marshmallows

stuffed mushrooms
  • Broccoli covered with bread crumb mixture

The desserts were crazy too.  We had homemade cupcakes by Dolores & Arianna. We had the best Tartufo on the planet, made by Aunt Butchie's in Brooklyn. We had cheesecakes, 4 varieties. We had fresh fruit to cleanse the palate so we can continue eating.

Pistachio & Vanilla & Chocolate Tartufo, in the center is raspberry sauce
The traditional cupcakes, homemade.
All in all, a great meal shared with our friends, who really are like our family...
